Metal & Stones
The transformation power of metal is amazing. What begins as a flat sheet of metal can take 3-dimensional shapes, acquire patinas, and even fuse with other metals to create a new structure. My preferred metals are silver (for its beauty and durability) and copper (for its malleability and ability to take patinas easily). I also use 22-kt gold which I fuse with the silver using an old Korean technique called keum boo, creating attractive bi-metal pieces. As for the stones, what can be said about nature's beautiful work? There are very few Quimera Atelier pieces that do not include them. You can see see them under Metal & Stones.
Resin makes me happy. It can be manipulated it into any color and matched to the stones or other materials used in the piece. It is really light, making for jewelry that is comfortable to wear. It can be used to preserve mementos of that special occasion, photos, to incorporate paper and other materials. It allows creativity to flow freely. Check my resin pieces under Resin Works.
